The ducks are all fully rested after a hugely successful race last year the 3,500 ducks will once again be taking to the water. Each duck can be sponsored for just £1 with prizes for the first 3 ducks to cross the line.
The event, hosted by Canterbury Rotary Club, will be held on 18th September. The ducks will be let loose at 11am and wind their way along the quarter mile stretch of the River Stour towards the finish line at the Westgate Towers.
For more information and updates head over to the Duck Race Facebook page and don’t forget to add the date in your diary.
On Wednesday the club were proud to host mile 27 of “30 miles in 30 days”. This challenge is being completed by two amazing ladies; Paige Thomas who came up with this wonderful idea to raise money for RLSS UK and her mum Donna Thomas. Members of the club enthusiastically joined them to give support including 3 parents. Rachel, Monty, Danny and Phoebe completed the mile and Clara, Fatima and Ffion successfully swam a very respectable half mile. Thank you all for your donations, Paige and Donna are aiming to generate as much awareness as possible of the Save a Baby’s Life Programme and raise lots of money to buy the much needed equipment to run the free courses.
There will be no swimming on 16th March as Kingsmead Leisure Centre have been forced to close due to unforeseen circumstances. We hope to be back next week though. Apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.
Huge congratulations to our very own Phoebe Pritchard and the rest of her team for winning gold in the RLSS UK South East Region Teams Lifesaving Championships 2015. Phoebe and the other ladies on the team saw of competition from competitors from the South East of England in a variety of lifesaving events. Well done ladies!
