Boxing Day Swim 2016
Its that time of year again when the mad members of the club go for a swim in the sea and apparently enjoy it!
There was a large turn out this year which is always good to see and a lot of dogs for added madness. Once we’d acclimatised to the slightly chilly beach it was time for the swim which was actually rather pleasant once you were in. We managed to stay in for a good few minutes before we decided it was time to hit the pub.
We hope you had a fantastic Christmas and we shall see you all in the New Year on the 11th January for the first club session of the term. Get in touch if you’d like to find out how to join us.
Debbie meets Royalty
Our very own Deborah Hunt went to Buckingham Palace today to receive an award from HRH Prince Michael of Kent and then to a reception afterwards.
The Queen and Prince Michael of Kent hosted the reception to celebrate 125 years of the Royal Life Saving Society.
The Royal Life Saving Society and its member branches teach valuable life-saving skills and educate communities across 27 Commonwealth countries on drowning prevention.
Did you know when The Queen was 13, she too, achieved her Royal Life Saving Medal?
Canterbury Duck Race 2016
The Canterbury Duck Race is back for 2016!
The ducks are all fully rested after a hugely successful race last year the 3,500 ducks will once again be taking to the water. Each duck can be sponsored for just £1 with prizes for the first 3 ducks to cross the line.
The event, hosted by Canterbury Rotary Club, will be held on 18th September. The ducks will be let loose at 11am and wind their way along the quarter mile stretch of the River Stour towards the finish line at the Westgate Towers.
For more information and updates head over to the Duck Race Facebook page and don’t forget to add the date in your diary.
